I used to stop by here most Sundays after church because it was at the spot where I would change from the tram to the bus and it also had Coopers Pale Ale on special (which is never a bad thing). So I could sit in the beer garden with a glass of Coopers and read my book while waiting for the bus, and then continue on my journey home. However, the price of the beer went up, so I decided to make my way home by other means (though I also decided to go out for dinner with my friends from church, which is a more enjoyable way of spending a Sunday night). However, it is still a fairly nice and quite hotel, with a restaurant, sports bar, and pokies room, with some rather large function spaces to boot (and I probably should also mention the cheap food and trivia night).
Browns corner hotel went through major reno's probably about 12 months ago. They turned what was a fairly run down hotel that I walked in & fairly promptly walked out of once when I first moved in to the area into a pretty slick establishment. The decor is nice, the staff are friendly & attentive. It does feel a bit too slick for my likings though. Its somehow been stripped of its character. But it is a pub you'd be happy to meet friends, family, colleagues & business partners in. Not the kind of place I'd rave about but far from the place I'd avoid. Oh & meals are quick, tasty & value for money, especially Mon-Fri at lunchtimes when they have a $10 special. Go on, give it a shot!
