Brunswick Hotel

If you like your live music loud and heavy then you can't go past the Bruswick hotel. In fact they don't just have one stage, but two, with the second one being out the the really large beer garden. Okay, I haven't been to this place all that often (in fact only twice) however it has been recommended to me by friends who know the music scene (even though they aren't big fans of heavy music). This place isn't all that bad, and it certainly becomes quick popular later on in the evening. I also love the huge beer garden out the back (though it can get quite wet on winter nights). This is certainly one of those pubs I would be more than happy to check out again. Also, they have Brunswick bitter on tap, which is no doubt their house beer. It's also pretty centrally located in Brunswick so it is quite easy to find. I also quite like the bar inside with its typical trendy feel.

This is a large but cosy venue with a local atmosphere and a wonderful array of live entertainment throughout the week. The layout of the 'Brunny' permits a welcome degree of distance between those who are watching the stage, those who are playing pool, and of course, those who are relaxing outside, in their large, beautiful (and partly under-cover) beer garden. The coloured stage lighting is bright and entrancing, while the rest of the bar is kept mercifully dim. They dont sell hot food, but fish and chips are available nearby, and the staff dont complain if you bring it in. Sometimes you may have to wait a while to buy a drink, or to use the ladies' room, but such things are to be expected in such a justifiably popular bar. I am a regular attendee at the fortnightly poetry reading, and give the Brunswick my heartiest recommendation as an excellent spot to listen, perform, drink and socialise.
