The historic, Tudor-style Bundanoon Hotel is a significant land mark of the Southern Highlands, just over 90 minutes on the freeway from either Sydney or Canberra. Old style rooms have been transformed, the fully modernised kitchen still pays tribute to the original, 10 foot long AGA store - reputedly the only commercially functioning coke-fired AGA in the Southern hemisphere.

I like the idea of a local pub with a decent dining room. Bundanoon hotel has that. The food is good and well priced for the locals and visitors and the service especially from Carol is fantastic. The bar service is ordinary however and could be more friendly.
I do also think that the overall condition of the pub is very much in need of a face lift. The beer garden should be a nice place to sit and have a beer when you are there with children or dogs however this pubs beer garden is a dust bowl most of the time. Even a good clean up and a covering of grass or pebbles would be an improvement.
Maybe the owner/s could consider this.
A quaint, Tudor-style hotel, Bundanoon tavern hosts an interesting variety of guests on a lazy Wednesday evening. Being out-of-towners, we decided to pop in for dinner. Good thing we booked ahead, because on arrival the place was pumping. Not in the Kings-X type of way either. A strong family vibe, the hotel caters for overnighters as well as diners, but the menu and kitchen are both very country bumpkin. The waiter was seriously under the pump the night we went in, and I almost didn't want to order dinner, staff was that busy. Staff looked confused when I requested pepper sauce with my Schnitzel...both arrived 40 minutes later - Schnitzel looked great - pepper sauce was just gravy with pepper cracked over it...hmmmm. For $10 I can't really complain though can I?
