Once upon a time you could ask questions in bunnings to staff that are retired tradies and get some good advice. Sadly this seems to be a thing of the past. Whilst the staff are friendly and sometimes even helpful, more often than not they haven't got a clue!
My suggestion is the staff can tell you with great accuracy where to find a particular product in which bay and aisle but DIY advice is less than ordinary.
Today I was directed to a senior staff member to guide me through which of their 3475845987245 types of silicone adhesive was suitable for my purpose.
I asked a couple of questions as the print was too small for my tired eyes. I was told curing time & "get time" I asked very perplexed, what is get time? I was told that was how long it takes before you "get" to let go. I couldn't bring myself to tell him what gel time was but it was somewhat entertaining.
Bunnings is great! I use to dread going here, but now I love it! Even if I am not looking for something *in particular*, I do enjoy looking at the outdoor furniture settings, the BBQ's and the great range of garden ornaments. Their garden section is good and the staff are wonderful, they are so knowledgeable and if they aren't 100% sure they know another staff member who can answer the questions. On one visit, we had picked a trolley as we knew we would be buying some heavy items, we even had 2 items IN the trolley, walked away - came back - the items were on the shelf and our trolley was gone. One of the young lads was nearby and heard us talking about how someone had *stolen* our trolley so he organises for another one to be brought to us. Service doesn't get any better than that! There is also a small cafe where you can get tea, coffee a cold drink and light snacks, a play area for the children and plenty of parking!
Well, I can't say Bunnings WAS a favourite shop of mine, more hubby's thing, until we bought our home, and now Bunnings is my second home. We seem to spend at least every other weekend there. They have everything you need for renovating, making improvements or just gardening. The staff are all so knowledgeable and willing to help, we've even had assistance getting bulky/heavy items back to the car. I love their large paint section and the lighting section, I find the lights there just as good as in the lighting places, but so much cheaper. There is a small caf are and a play area for the kids as well.
