Since the refurbishment I have been to the Hyde Park Hotel twice, the first time was great. It seems I made the mistake of expecting the same the second time around. I went on Saturday for lunch with a group of 6 people, 2 of which ordered steak medium done and it came out burnt, they told the waiter they would not pay full price for the meal but also did not want to wait another 30 minutes for food, the waiter agreed. We then went around to front bar to watch the football, we were then told that they had advertised to another sport so would not be playing the football, almost all of the bar cleared out and the ones left were trying to watch the football on small screens with no sound, you would think this would have been a hint to change it over. The drink service was the worst of all, there was one person serving who was very rude and for most of the time was not at the bar, it took about 15 minutes to get change for the pool tables! The refurbishment at the Hyde Park hotel is great.

There is still live music in the front bar, and lots of tvs to watch the footy. Bar staff were friendly and attentive.

The alfresco dining area is blissful on a hot summers day when they have the misting fans going.
I found the food to be decent for pub grub, but the boys were thoroughly delighted by the novelty of their "four man steak sandwich" which was pretty massive!

Went to the Hyde Park Hotel for the first time last night, was a real good pub, relaxing atmosphere, friendly service. I ordered the seafood basket/platter to share wif my partner, it contained a small piece of fish, a nice little fried crab, which i dont like crab but this was very nice, a bit of squid some prawns on a stick and some chips, the meal was enough for both of us, a good serving and well presented, thumbs up

I've watched live bands and drunk at the Hydey often, and whilst it can be a little confronting when you first visit, the atmosphere is great (especially during live gigs), and no-one can argue with 40c pool and $13 steak night on Tuesday.
