This is a super cool place to visit in Byron. You can walk, which I recommend, from Byron proper. It takes about an hour for a fit young person. It is a spectacular Boardwalk. I have done it many times. (The alternative route back is a dirt track which is still nice but a little more challenging - bring proper shoes if you want to do that one).
You can also drive and/or tour bus it here. Parking isn't too cheap though.
The lighthouse itself has daily tours run by volunteers. If you want to do this you need to register and it is best to get in early (i.e 10am by Byron standards) to get on the tour. You otherwise don't get to see the inner workings of the operational lighthouse.
There is a nice little cafe nearby which I recommend stopping in for an icecream at.
Definitely a "must do" when visiting Byron. The lighthouse is worth a visit for photo opportunities and seeing great views.
Always lovely to see whales too when migrating up and down the coast.
Parking can be a nightmare tho if you do go in busy times. There's also a bit of a museum onsite now showcasing much local history.
The most easterly point in Australia is also home to a famous working colonial lighthouse. An exhilarating walk uphill takes you to the top where you can explore the lighthouse and 360 views around Byron, in all its beauty. The colour of the water, the whales (if you're here in the right season) and the bracing, fresh air make it a very worthwhile attraction. Not to be missed.
