This is a lovely cafe set in the laneway just off Little Collins Street. On a wet Saturday afternoon, the waiter ushers us inside to the warm interior to a nice little table. Coffees come quickly and are very good. The music is funky and the whole place is enjoyable. Thank you
Those of us who are familiar with Melbourne are well aware of all of the little shops and cafes hidden away in the many alleys that dot the city, and this little coffee shop is one of them. One of the wonders about Melbourne is simply finding one of these places and sitting down for some breakfast, or even simply a cup of tea, which is normally what I do in the morning. Okay, the tea was a little pricey, but it wasn't bad, and neither was the French toast (though it was really rich). However you do sometimes need to get here early because it does become fairly crowded once everybody starts arriving in the city. They also take visa, however one thing that I do have to remember is that you pay after you finish rather than before, which can sometimes be a little confusing, but it is still a nice place for an early morning cup of tea (or coffee, if that is what you prefer).
While the staff were soooo welcoming, greeting us on the side walk, and it looked reasonably busy so we didnt think they were trying to be pushy to get us in the door. At least we didn't feel that way, as there were other customers inside. We stopped for a quick breakfast and a coffee before a big day shopping.
When the coffee came out we were totally excited for a great meal to follow this delicious well made coffee.
However it stopped there unfortunately.
The bagel topped with berry mascarpone was pretty tasty and we enjoyed it. But the french toast was like a plate of scrambled eggs soaked bread! It was not nice, we hd to send it back.
While they offered to remake it, we just didn't have time. And then when we were paying they were very apologetic, but it was a case of too little too late.
I actually am kicking my self now for not reading the other posts below... Might have been a good indicator for me. But each to their own.
