Caf Ella is great with a great range of breakfast and lunch selections, its definitely the place to go. The staff there are very pleasant, a little bit hip and quirky and the tucker is tasty and honest. A favourite of mine is the lentil stew, with a chunk of goats feta, an olive and thick sliced bread for good measure, its a more than generous helping you can share between 2 (depending on how hungry you are of course!). Its simple and delicious. They do tasty pastas and all of the portions I have seen are very generous. They have a nice section downstairs and out the back in the courtyard and theres a lovely light and airy upstairs area with big tables. I quite like the idea of sitting at the same table as strangers, its a nice communal feeling. Definitely this is my pick of the cafes on Abercrombie street.

Peter the owner/cook of Cafe Ella cooks his his own boiled bagels every morning. There are only two kinds - blueberry and poppy seed. Both are delicious.
But don't leave it until the end of the day to call in as they might be all gone.
It is worth a trip to Chippendale just to try them out.
