Cafe Gaia

Fabulous cafe tucked away in a quiet side street off the main drag on Toorak Rd with lots of interesting and healthy choices on the menu. Lots of nice choices for vegetarians and vegans too and friendly, attentive staff. It gets really busy and can be quite bustling.

I can't believe it took me 3 years of living in South Yarra to find this cafe!! Definitely my favorite around! It is always busy (so if you want a quiet breakfast or coffee with your morning paper maybe not a good choice) but the staff are always really friendly and will make sure you have everything you need. The food and coffee are awesome and you never have to wait long to be served or to get your order. I love it!

My new favourite breakfast South of the river. A small cafe tucked away just off Toorak Rd (so no trams or annoying loud families walking past every 3secs) providing bountiful meals which are far from your standard breakfast fare. The pikelets with apricots, cinnamon marscapone and pistachios are another reason to give up on abs and the special crumble will make your taste buds weep with joy. For something more savoury you can't go past the potato & rosemary rosti with poached eggs and pork belly. Yes, that's right an excuse to eat pork belly for breakfast! Who could want more?
Staff are great and the coffee delicious. You can eat inside in a well-decorated white interior or under the ample terrace complete with hanging vines. Even the parking inspector came by to let us know he was in the area and that people should move their cars. Amazing.
