I've been here a few times and love the value for money of the food.
And it's always come out wonderfully awesome and I've eaten everything and then requested to be rolled home.
This time however I asked for poached eggs and got hard boiled sunny side up eggs. Was told that this was what poached meant. Much to the surprise of myself since I've been ordering poached eggs for a very long time and been getting the runny middle bit and not hard boiled. Apparently I was meant to ask for runny. My mistake! Next time I know better. To eat runny eggs here don't ask for poached, ask for runny. Duly noted Mr Chef.
Otherwise the food and service is great. Sometimes you might have to wait for a table, but if you have a small group there are patrons willing to share if you're willing to ask!
I would have given it more stars if it hadn't have been for the eggs debate.
Cafe Guilia is the sweetness in my Chippendale mornings!
Being super close to my uni, I had enjoyed a massive breakfast or lunch at this place a few times and been blown away with the food each and every time. When i think about this cafe, I think "home" food, I think quality AND quantity and I think happiness.
Don't let the massive lines or crowds scare you off, they are there for a reason. Give it a wait and see for yourself. Anything with eggs are great and the pancakes are like fluffy cloud heaven. Their coffee is also noteworthy and the large size comes in a hug mug to keep you going through your whole meal.
The interior might seem like a tight squeeze until you realise they have a courtyard out the back which you can grab a table, bask in the sun and enjoy a huge delicious feed. I won't be the only person to say this cafe is my little not-so-hidden gem.
This cool cafe on Abercrombie Street has an old school diner feel to it and an absolutely huge menu! I always (always!) have trouble deciding what I want when I go here and spend far too long gazing confusedly up at the blackboard at all the various, hearty treats on offer. I am mad on the omelette here, the one with fetta and the split pea soup and white bean soup are also great in the winter. The rosemary chips are also so addictive, I could just order a bowl of those and be completely satisfied. The breakfast is satisfying, Ive had the scrambled eggs with mushrooms and spinach and have really enjoyed it. The coffee is pretty good and the staff are friendly. We usually go here in groups from work but the service is always quick no matter what size our group is. The only down-side is that, depending on where youre sitting, it can get pretty hot in here in the summer because of the proximity of seating to the kitchen area and lack of a through-breeze but its not ...read more
