Caffe E Cucina
A pioneer in the style stakes since the ’80s, Caffe e Cucina has led the way in defining and shaping the Melbourne culinary scene. Dim lighting, crisp linen draped tables, dark wood panelling, waiters oozing Italian charm, and authentic dishes created from seriously good produce is always a winning formula. Chef Fabio Ferracane has satisfied many a craving from the high profile and elite with dishes such as linguini loaded with pipis, mussels, scallops, garlic, chilli and tomato baked in parchment paper, or the very popular Black Angus porterhouse – bellissimo!
We had a fabulous dinner here with the best pasta I have eaten in a very long time. Everything was absolutely fresh and cooked to perfection! The seafood linguine and the lamb ragu tagliatelle are amazing! The tiramisu is wonderful too! We had a side of caprese salad with green beans. A perfect meal in every way.
Heard that the this place has the best linguine pasta so have wanting to come here when I had a chance.
So was excited to come here for Valentine's Day. It was a set menu with a choice of 1 out of 3-4 selections for three courses. The waiter came and took our orders without writing it down. Wasn't surprised that when the food came out, it was wrong...
For starters we ordered the raw beef with egg yolk and the raw swordfish. Personally prefers the swordfish as it was light and fresh. The raw beef was nice but was a big portion for a raw dish. ...read more
I'm a big fan of pasta and you can't get much better than Caffe e Cecina. This melbourne institution has been in business for a long time and there is a reason for that! The seafood pasta is a must have, I hate being a creature of habit but order it every time I go here.
Fantastic coffee, wonderful food and fabulous seafood. I think this is the original that spawned offshoots but it's still the best in my opinion. The inside is a tad dark but oddly comforting in a womb-like way. It's always busy and sometimes noisy but the food is worth the hassle of Chapel Street.
