Clearly they don't understand customer service. The waitstaff looked miserable. The menu tells you to ask the waitstaff about the house liquors, it didn't appear that they had a menu for alcohol, so when we asked, the waitress huffed and tried to list off what alcohol they had. My partner asked for chilli with his pasta, which we didn't receive, even though the waitress stated it would come with it. The Parmesan was not fresh, it was the dry crumbly one you get from a plastic shaker. I would have forgiven this if it weren't so pricey for food and drinks. Then our pasta was severely undercooked. Bland bland bland. You're in a great location, you need to step up your game..
I went to Caminetto's tonight during the Vivid festival. I will say that the area was crazy busy and no doubt Caminetto's was far busier than usual and perhaps straining under the pressure, but this was a very poor experience. We ordered garlic bread and it came out looking dry and as another reviewer mentioned, straight from the freezer. I had the Boscaiola pasta for main and it was gluggy, congealed and the pasta very thick. I did not enjoy it at all. Another diner at my table asked about a prawn dish before ordering to see if it would be served with the prawns in shell, or shelled. The wait staff returned from checking in the kitchen that they would be shelled, so she ordered that meal. The prawns arrived in shell with heads and tails and they handled the manner in an arrogant way. The wine list is small and the only wine that you can order by the glass is the house wine and our wait staff could not tell us what variety the red or white was. Our choice was ...read more
Without a booking on Saturday night, this was one of the only places where we could walk straight in and get a seat without waiting for over 1 hour and I know why, we sat under the kitchen windows which was ok, as the restaurant makes you feel like you're in Europe, but that's about it. For a starter we chose garlic bread and Oyster's in a tomato sauce, both were terrible, the bread was straight from the freezer, and the oysters were canned and not fresh at all. The mains were poor quality and although not expensive ($30 p/main), the food had no substance, no flavor, so we all left half of plates uneaten.
The choice of wine was small, and this too we left after drinking only half the bottle.
I would never recommend this place to anyone, and I won't be heading back again.
