I looked at a 2003 Toyota Tarago in their car yard. It seemed quite decent. Then I looked at the history. They had been so kind as to leave the previous maintenance record. This told a bad story. In particular, the last service by the previous owner noted that the front brakes and front tyres were due for replacing. I checked them over... they were close to the wear limits. Same for the rear tyres, and one side was bald on the side. As I about to leave on the test drive, I mentioned to the salesagent that I though it was due for 4 new tyres. They tried to convince me that the majority were ok and that the front tyres were even new!! I may not be an expert, but you cannot fool me that easily. I got into a little argument with the salesman and then decided it wasn't worth it. I walked out and I will never go back to this dealer again.
unfortunately the person who wrote this reveiw about the 2003 Toyota Tarago was wrong this time, yes there was an old receipt in the glove box,but failed to listen to the salesman correctly and the front tyres had indeed been replaced along with the front brakes, all of our cars get a safety inspection, and the Tarago was sold not long after to a very happy client.
I have bought new tires before. I know the difference! I also know what is the legal minimum. The car may well turn out to be a good one. After all it was a Toyota! I'm not suggesting the car was crap. I was simply commenting on the poor quality salesman.
