Yes the same thing happened to my poor dad & he is a 72year old pensioner. He pawned some of his tools & he went in there to pay the ("interest") like clock work so he didn't loose it they took his money every 2 weeks. When I heard my dad had pawned his tools to pay a utility I took him in to the so called CASH DEALERS in Clayton & they still had his tools an he borrowed $100 they said he had to pay $300 to get them back because he was meant to pay every fortnight an (apparently) he didn't. They then went on to say how lucky my dad was that they still had his things since he never paid. I paid the money to get my dads tools back & told my dad to never go there again.
I pawned something here lets just say it was of some great value to me and I definitely wanted it back, but at the time I needed the money to go towards my rent as I had been off work sick anyway I went in a couple of times a month every single month for 6 months never missed a payment. After 6 mths of this I finally had the cash to pick my things up. I went in handed them the pawn slip and they fumbled around a bit and came back to me and said "your things were sold 4 months ago because you didn't pay the interest" I can't imagine how this is possible I said I have been in here for the last 6 months and I haven't missed a payment. They all claimed that they had never collected any money off me an there was no record of this. They also claimed that I had written on the pawn slip the payments myself. To anyone that reads I am a very honest person and these people are not people need to know.
They did the same thing to my brother. He ended up getting it back though luckily but it costed him more than it should of because they made him pay extra claiming that he had not paid any of the interest an when he went to getya
