Continuing on my adventure on Sydney's light rail brought me to Lilyfield, and Google Maps led me to this little cafe hidden away from the sight of visitors. I'm not sure why the call it 'Catherine & Piper' because from what I could see the name of this cafe was the 'View Cafe'. Maybe it is because it is on the corner of Catherine St and Piper street, but still, that wasn't its name. Anyway, this was clearly a cafe for a rather trendy suburb of Sydney (as is expected for most inner city areas), and the artistic looking house across the road gave testament to that. It was a little expensive, however they served my tea to me in the most loveliest of pots.

Ok; I've thought long and hard before I decided to sign up and review Catherine and Piper but in the end if this helps someone avoid my experience then it will be worth it. Catchiness and Piper is on a lovely st in the stately, sleepy Sydney suburb of Sydney. From the outside it looks very inviting; and this extends to the inside as well as my friend( who lives down the street) and I made the decision to order breakfast ; keeping in mind that the place we wanted to eat was closed for renovation. I ordered the farmhouse omlet and my friend ordered the chorizo and mushroom omelet. I m not writing this to bag out someone's business and cause hurt but the food that arrived was bland; uninteresting; hard to eat and almost impossible to finish. Paying $13.50 is an incentive to finish which I managed; but alas my dining companion could not. The food was obviously made by someone who had it in for anyone who unwisely came inside to eat. The food was bland; unseasoned ...read more

I just had breakfast at this place. The eggs weren't cooked through, the spinach still had its roots on(!) and the mushrooms tasted like they were boiled for a couple of hours. Nothing had any flavour whatsoever. I've had better quality food from motorway service stations. Honestly you wouldn't believe this place was in an affluent Sydney suburb. 14 bucks for sub-standard food and $3.65 for a long black that i didn't even want to finish.
