Cerberus Beach House

Set in exceptional surroundings with floor to ceiling windows that give spectacular viewws onto Port Phillip Bay, this is a fabulous spot for a meal! Although it's pricier than your average fish and chip shop downstairs, everything is fabulous and service is wonderful. It's a lovely place to watch the sunset and the tides rolling in.

We had lunch at Cerberus Beach House today. It is in a wonderful location, with views over Port Phillip Bay taking in HMAS Cerberus and distant suburbs. Being a warmish sunny, windless day added to the ambience. The service was attentive and we didn't feel hurried, the waitress happy to answer our questions and explain a few things on the menu. On the menu there were "small plates" options and "large plates" options. We wanted the fish and chips in the small plate option, but were told there were absolutely no variations on any meals. In this day and age I found this surprising as the other meals could easily be served in smaller sizes. Diners sometimes have dietary requirements e.g. they could have at least one vegan option. The fish and chips were $28 which was a little expensive for just one fillet (although I'm no expert on prices, maybe this is normal). Went there for lunch with friends. The waiter, possibly owner, was very friendly with possible locals. However with us was very pushy to order within minutes of arriving, and then proceeded to open mineral water throughout the meal without asking if we wanted it, all for which we were charged for. Could have something to do with us not ordering wine.

The food was good but a little pricey. Will try other places before going back there.

Fabulous spot, delicious, high quality food and exceptional service.

Haven't eaten upstairs yet, but the fish and chips downstairs are outstanding! The best we've found in Bayside! Not sure if I want to share for fear of bigger waits :)
