Chão Jiu-Jitsu Academy
Tradiciona Gracie Brazilian Jiu-JitsuOur goal is to bring to Brisbane the tradition of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu created by the Gracie family, teaching self defence and Jiu-jitsu.
Chão BJJ encourages a equal balance of mind and body conditioning. Chão (pronounced "showm") in Brazil means "ground". The BJJ focus is grappling and ground fighting. At Chão BJJ, "ground" is not only the mat and the place where you meet your opponent, but also a state of mind - when you are grounded, you are in complete connection with your own body, enabling you to tap into your inner wisdom and strength. This philosophy underpins all our teachings.
The program strays away from the "win/lose competition philosophy" and focuses on training each student to find their ground by instilling a hard work ethic, a positive attitude, and a love for the Jiu-Jitsu life style. As both a martial art and a contact sport this is a great opportunity for you to learn how to persevere on the mats so you can persevere in life.
Jiu-jitsu is also a great way of getting in shape, making friends, and having some relax and antistress time.
Classes include techniques, physical drills and live ...read more
