Chat Thai

We ordered delivery from this branch last night and it was unreal. We ordered Pad Kee Mao with crispy pork belly, and red curry paste pork belly. They were so fresh and full of flavours. Unfortunately they don't have my fave dessert (thai donut with pandang dips) unlike the other Chat Thai, but it's nice to just know we have a Chat Thai around the corner from us!

It has been many years since I last visited this Chat Thai, but everything seems to be just as I remembered it. During dinner time, this small shop is still filled with a lot of locals and visitors alike that dine in and ordering for take outs. The seating arrangements have not changed a bit, including the seats at the pedestrian walkways at the front of the store. Once the dinner time finishes however, the crowd begins to dissipate quite quickly as they do not open until late (unlike their sister store at Chinatown).

The food here used to be great but the last couple of times it's been disappointing. A lack of flavor and the ingredients didn't seems as high quantity as they once were. I'm not sure I'll give it another try.

Friday night, packed to the rafters. We waited 40 minutes for takeaway, and in the meantime about 20 people who ordered after us got their food. When I asked for a refund the order was filled within a minute. Got to be rude to get decent service, I guess.

If I ever find a better Thai restaurant, I'll be amazed, because Chat Thai is the most amazing restaurant I have ever been to. It's wonderful atmosphere and delicious food make it a pure delight to go to on a lonely week night, or even on a busy Saturday. However, it does get packed out quickly, so either come early or book. The food is simply divine, and tastes fresher than most restaurant food. I love the Pad Thai's and the Jungle Curry with prawns (although there are so many others I could mention!) If you are looking for a place to eat as a regular, or just to try out one night, Chat Thai is your place. I couldn't recommend it better!
