Its been some time since i visited Chef Lagenda and being the only known Malaysian Restaurant in the area i decided to pop back in to grab dinner. Not ordering the usual rice dishes but something a but heavy and thick being the curry laska. Filling and full of flavour, very heavy but definitely did the job to fill me up for dinner. Not the best laska I've ever had but it was decent for the price. Very busy place so reservations are required during prime dinner time. I was lucky to be in a tad before peak time so had a small table in the corner. Staff are fully busy and at times it was hard to get their attention. Other than that average experience as any other time.
It's great that Chef Lagenda has opened up here in Deer Park as it's given the area a dining choice facelift - particularly in the realm of quality Asian food. Food here is great, just like their Flemington sister restaurant. I've ordered a lot of the menu items here over the years but can never get over the meal deal (my favourite) and roti roll. This menu option is best for a quick meal, pick and choose what you want. The roti chicken roll has all the ingredients you could ever want in a roll plus satay goodness. Laksa here is also pretty good, nice flavours and nothing is too overpowering and so is the hainanese chicken rice. All in all, it's a must visit if you are up for Malaysian and they do most of the classic Malaysian food items. Service here is hit and miss... luck of the draw really and depends on who you get / what day.
Chef Lagenda Deer Park was a good cheap dining spot in the western suburbs when it first open. The nasi goreng was a favorite and popular one for my husband in which we have ordered many times. On one occasion or the last time my husband ordered the nasi goreng, it tasted different and we found out that could be due to the possible change in chef, although not confirmed it does make sense. Other dishes like the hainese chicken rice still seems the same. Although we don't order the nasi goreng anymore we still come in to have dinner or grab take away. The only thing I think Chef Lagenda should invest in is an eftpos terminal because they only accept cash which makes it a bit difficult at time when I'm not carrying any cash. My recent order was the curry laksa take away which I found the curry to be quite heavy and sweet. Nice but not my favorite. The dumplings are nice provided I have it with the red vinegar. Average dining restaurant and cheap. On ...read more
