Chennai Banana Leaf
The Glen Waverly located 'Chennai Banana Leaf' restaurant brings its loyal customers a delectable range of authentic South Indian cuisine without the pretentiousness (or the price tag).
One step into the cosy terracotta paved eatery, and you'll be greeted by the spicy scents wafting in and out of the kitchen. Went to this cafe 3 years ago and the food was great. I went with my family for lunch today and the food was awful. We had the dosas which were cold the potato curry was off..yes spoilt, it smelt and tasted like it was past its used by date. When we bought this to the attention of the staff they said it was because of the lemon juice and some other spice...that they bought out from the kitchen to show us it was very disappointing. Will definitely inform the council as I do not want any other pregnant woman put in this position.
This restaurant serves authentic South Indian food that is declicious and cheap. They have buffet lunches and a buffet on Tuesday nights but we actually prefer to go in and order off the menu.
The dosas, uttapams and vadais are just like in India. They also serve great thalis (meals) for vegetarians and carnivores :)
