Il Ciao concentrates on providing traditional home style Italian cuisine with a range of Mediterranean dishes also available to order.
Signature dishes of pizzas, pastas, calamari and parmigiana are thoughtfully prepared by Chef Anna Perruzza and staff with service that is second to none.
Since bursting onto the competitive Applecross restaurant scene in 1989, Il Ciao has won two awards which has made the restaurant a local favourite.
After hearing numerous rumors about changes in food quality under new ownership, we decided to test it out. We visited on Sunday, and it turned out to be the best decision ever! The food remained consistent, particularly the Spaghetti Marinara, which tasted just as delicious as before. We had the chance to meet the new owner, a delightful lady who took the time to talk to us. When we inquired about her experience, she shared how they had encountered some setbacks but assured us that they've maintained the same standards. Despite feeling sympathetic about the setbacks, we pledged to spread the word about this wonderful establishment and its dedicated owners who have successfully kept everything unchanged.
Here's a piece of advice: if you enjoyed the dining experience at Il Ciao, revisit and give it a try. The food is still prepared by the same chefs, ensuring an unchanged and delightful culinary experience.
Get there early! Super popular place serving all your favourite Italian favourites, pizza’s, pasta, seafood & meat dishes and desserts. Generous portions, reasonably priced, service is friendly and unobtrusive. Very popular and it if don’t get there early you have to queue up for a very long time.
It is a favourite of mine - the food is consistantly good. The pizza bases are light and the waiters are always very attentive.
I always judge an italian restuarant on it's gnocchi - and theirs wasn't the best I have had, but not the worst either.
I think the thing that makes this place is the noise - you know your kids arn't going to annoy anyone because you can't hear them! Also you can tell the waiters like their job, which I think shows good management....
