great place to eat! always a favourite!

I like this place - no nonsense, no frills, just a basic pub looking after its locals. There is a TAB (if that's what does it for you) with TV screens dotted around, but somehow this doesn't impact on the rest of the bar which was full of people just drinking or eating (and smoking as it happens!). Attached is the Bistro which is much more salubrious than the bar which, along with the bar, offers very reasonably priced, and well cooked, food. In short, if you are okay with a local bar which is a bit rough and ready then this is a great spot. If not, the Bistro is a good alternative.

Was apprehensive when we first rocked up - the pub was full of what looked like truckies and wharfies - not quite what I had in mind for a "quiet" evening.

The Bistro section however turned out to be just that - very quiet, with a real wood fire going. Very welcoming on a cold, wet winter's night.

Ordered a Wednesday Steak night special - 300g scotch for $18.50.
What turned up looked more like 500g of pure protein.

Others on the table that ordered pasta and lamb shanks also got very generous serves.

Good value, no non-sense food.

Service was great - all food came out at the same time.

The only negative was thet they couldn't break the bill for the separate memebrs on the table, so had to pay cash.
