Had our wedding at this venue- beautiful spot and beautiful day! However the staff were shockingly rude and unhelpful and generally slack in their 'service'. Here are a couple of examples:
Everything felt rushed and disorganised. For example, the lawn was meant to be mown and cleared of kangaroo poo in plenty of time for the ceremony at 4pm. However the person responsible was late, then the ride-on broke (not his fault, I understand that) but to then make a couple of ineffectual stabs at the kangaroo poo covering the entire lawn and take off, leaving the groom, best-man and early guests to finish the job was unacceptable and humiliated us in front of our ...read more
Thank you for the comments re the atmosphere of the venue. We are disappointed you felt staff were rude and unhelpful. We hold many events at Closeburn & tasks are always completed in time. We have a schedule which we follow in regards to completing tasks to ensure the smooth running of events. Lawns were too short to be mowed after being done the week prior for another event. Poo was cleared from the site where the event was taking place & guests would be - no agreement was made re the clearing of the whole lawn and this was not scheduled into our preparation timing. Toilet paper issue was re the public toilets - all rooms had 2 rolls. The public toilets were not available for use until 1/2 hour before the event and were prepared well before this. Guests were in areas that were not open to the public as yet and we allowed them to be for their comfort - but evidently this caused people to believe tasks had not been completed in time. Saw that this place had reopened from signs on the highway - Checked it out on a sunday afternoon. The staff (new owners) were very friendly and happy to show me around the house which was lovely after having a wedding here many years ago. Alot had changed! Every room was warm and inviting and there were beautiful paintings in each room done by a local artist. I had a tasty and HUGE hamburger and the best milkshake Ive had in years!
was invited to close burn house for the weekend for a 30th, have never been to the blue mountains before, it was a very beautiful place, the rooms were neat & tidy and comfortable, perfect for an overnight stay, with beautiful surroundings, lovely food and friendly staff, it will be a place i hope to return to in the future, and will be telling all my friends about! thank you for the great night. 5stars!!!
