My experience was with the Mental Health Unit.
After waiting for 5 hours in ER, we left. Called back the next day to be admitted the next day. Another 5 hours wait.
I strongly agree that the staff are the rudest, arrogant and antagoning I have ever experienced in my life, didnt actually think this was possible from a nurse. There were a few worth their weight in gold but the rest were horrible.
My meds were given to somone with the same name.
There are SERIOUS problems here, read up on what voluntary unrestricted means to them before admitting YOURSELF.
Recently moved to the area bring with me doctors referrals to have a operation. After the first visit 4hours later only to be told 'we'll leave it and see how it goes'.
Not happy with the out come I attended a local GP who referred me to a surgeon. Reassuring me that surgery was needed they referred me back to the Emergency department at Coffs Harbour hospital.
Jumping through all off the same hoops it's now been another 5hrs and counting.
I'm shell shocked as to what goes on here and the attitude some of the staff have towards their patients let alone there job.
My Father was taken to this hospital during a trip from QLD to NSW. I rushed up to see him and I found all the staff to be compassionate and caring and could not do enough for him,my Mother or myself. I have nothing but praise for the staff. I would recommend this hospital to anybody
If you look like you have lots of money you will be treated with respect.If you don't you will be treated with contempt. moral of the story have your best clothes on and put your gold rings and necklaces on as well and you will be fine. I have been attending the coffs hospital nearly every day for five years and I am made to feel like dirt.
