Country pubs seem to operate at different times to the pubs that I am used to in the city. This is a large pub that I have driven past many times on my trips to Melbourne and I was determined to stop off here and have a drink. However, when I arrived at Kaniva I discovered that it was closed (and this was about 2:00 pm). The next time I was driving through I managed to get inside. The management said they weren't open but was willing to serve me a beer. However, I couldn't find a corner to read my book because this person started talking to me and didn't stop talking until I had finished my beer and left (not that this was a bad thing, but I suspect that it was because I was the only person in the pub and was in a talkative mood, or simply that is what happens with country pubs).
