My partner took our laptop to Computer Mechanics 73B Brewer St Perth early last week. The machine would not start up. We paid a $55 up-front fee for the technician to diagnose the problem.
I now believe these guys are dishonest.

From the moment this person walked in the door he was abusive and aggressive.
His position was that we should have inspected his partner's laptop, diagnosed it and re-assembled it at no cost. The man's partner agreed that we would put the parts in a box, thereby saving her a re-assembly fee. She was offered a data transfer for $66, or $110 if we supplied the USB hardware. She did not call back; instead we got the abusive visit.
It's no fun dealing with angry people who expect you to do work for nothing, then spend hours bad-mouthing your business on the Internet. You have to weigh this up against the relieved and grateful customers who are the overwhelming majority. If you're one of those, thanks for doing business with us!
My laptop DC Jack had problems. It didn't charge the battery and I was not able to use it for long time. I need my laptop urgently and data as well. The staff checked my laptop and fix within a day. It was quite impressive and the service fee was reasonable. If I have computer problems, I know where I need to go.
