I am a keen swimmer, and have been regularly doing lunchtime laps here for the past three months. I'm not a big fan of indoor pool complexes normally, preferring beach rock pools, BUT I am a fan of this place. Maybe its stepped up its management since those last reviews, but I could not fault it. The place is bright and clean, the pool surrounds, the changing rooms, the water. Nor is it overly chlorinated, no nasty smelliness. As for lane management, maybe lunch times are quieter than the usually crazy-busy morning swim traffic, but so far I've had no issues; quiet, never more than 3 in several speed graded lanes. There's a hot shower right by the pool, and a great sun trap deck for lounge lizarding. If you're quick you can fit in ten minutes to dry off there after 20 laps- and still get back to the office in an hour. Oh, and brilliant location, tucked in right by Hyde Park and the cathedral.
The poor management of the lanes availability makes the using of the main pool impossible.
the lanes marked as free on the timetable are permanently closed for general public without
any notice , because of any training programs. The management ignores all feed-backs of the customers regarding this matter. The city counsel who should make the supervising of this institution does nothing to improve this situation.
It's true, the management is fully chaotic. On March 23th at 11.30 am the
lanes 1,2,6, marked as "free" on timetable were closed .......only 3 lanes were
available for main customers and they were overcrowded.......
Good changes now mean better management, now very clean, rusty lockers all gone! Enjoy again in 2014! Chloem
the lap pool (50m) is quite cold compared to other indoor pools. The pool gets quite busy around lunchtimes.
Not very competitive with other gyms in the city in terms of variety of gym classes and timings of gym classes. A friend when to the spin class and wasn't that impressed so won't be going back there again.
The aqua aerobics is ok, but been to better. Not sure if this was due to the fill in student instructor we had.
The best thing about this place is the location. It's just near Hyde Park in the city so it's quite convenient. Once inside there's nothing special but if you're after aquarobics classes or some laps this will be cheap and easy to get to.
I have used cook &philipp pools over a number of with my grandchildren and children I work with. In recent times more than half the pools closed off at unannounced times ie no notice in foyer re availability of lanes or pools -often pools and dressing rooms quite grubby and run down. The centre has a great location and should try harder to offer a top facility.
