Located in Fitzroy Garden, Cook's Cottage is a must visit if one has not been there yet or even a re-visit. A travel back in time to 1755 England, complete with volunteers dressed in the period costume who are always happy for a chat. The cottage and the garden itself are quite an inspiration. Beautifully laid out, well maintained, it is a live history lessons for the adults and kids. There is an little souvenir shop attached at the side of and a part of the cottage which is interesting as well as informative and educational.
It was raining when we went to the Fitzroy Gardens so we decided to visit Cooks Cottage to get out of the rain for a bit. The man at the gate was very friendly despite the miserable weather. The cottage itself was a nice discovery, as were the gardens within. There was even a place to have your photo taken 'wearing' olden days clothing. The giftshop was nice and still informative as it had the maps of Cooks voyages on an interactive wall display. A good place to take kids who are learning about Captain Cook.
