This is the only shoe repair shop that I will trust with my shoes - top quality workmanship and friendly, experienced staff. They have applied rubber soles and heels to all of my leather shoes for the past several years, as well as helping me with repairs to the inner lining of my favourite pair of boots. Their advice on waterproofing has also been greatly appreciated. Even though I no longer work in the city, I still make a special trip in to use their services.
The medallion on my shoe fell off so I researched different shoe repairs and decided to take it to Coombs Shoe Service. The 2 staff members were far from friendly, however the only thing I cared about was the quality of their work. And the quality was far from acceptable. After they 'fixed' the shoe, it broke after two days of wearing it. I went back to complain and they offered to fix it for me, then CHARGED ME MORE than the last time despite their low quality job. They never properly fixed the shoe the first time, but charged me more than last time to fix their mistake. If you want to throw your money out and if you do not care about your shoe getting destroyed, then by all means visit this garbage shoe repair. Otherwise, take it somewhere with both better customer service and shoe repairers.
I took 2 pairs of my Burberry shoes to put new heels on. I wore first pair 2 times, on the second time the heel broke in halves. The other pair are my office shoes, so I only wear them inside the office: carpet and timber even floors, not dirt, water or anything damaging for shoes. The heel is broken and almost falling apart after 9 months of wearing. Not impressed.
After reading several positive reviews of Coombs on the internet, it seemed the best place to have my vintage Adidas Superstar sneakers repaired.
Despite the age-old craftsman style appearance of the shop and staff, which one associates with care and high quality workmanship, what I received was careless and utterly unprofessional treatment of my shoes. My shoes are now completely ruined. A simple glue and partial restitch job resulted in a pair of shoes that looked like they had been thrown into a clothes dryer with an upset three year old, two hungry German shepards and an old jar of clag glue. ...read more
