The food here has been quite delightful. The deserts and open sammiches make me happy. Definitely worth a try if you're near here.
The only reason I'm giving it a 3 is because service is pretty much non-existent and when it is existent it's never really been service, more so someone coming out and grunting at you, taking your order and hoping that they bring it out later. Most times I usually end up going in and ordering myself because you never seem to get a menu after sitting and a lot of times, I just don't have the time to wait to be waited on.
Seating outside is spacious, however do expect other people to smoke and lots of people walking past plus traffic.
Inside is a bit more cosier. If you can call being squished cosy. I opt outside only because I like my space and feel like sitting inside means that I'm literally in the next person's lap.
We stopped by here for a coffee as one of the few places open later in the evening that will just serve coffee as most coffee shops shut by later afternoon or only restaurants serving meals. It is located on King Street. Service is fairly friendly.
Went with a Chai Latte and Latte. They tasted fine but wish it was hotter in temperature.
Corelli's Gallery Cafe at Newtown seems like they have been there since the suburb started. It has this very local vintage style and old-school feel. The small and super-intimate dining area makes it feel like you are coming to grandma's house. There are no fancy decor or even fancy menu items -- just pure heartwarming food and drinks.
They serve all day breakfast, which is quite exciting especially since they open until late at night.
Contrary to the size of the dining area, the cake slices are very big and are definitely of great value. The chocolate cake was delicious and the homemade carrot cake was mouth watering. The hot beverages are also equally generous in serving size. They don't have modern flavours but every now in a while you just need that break from the modern things and indulge yourselves with the classic recipes!
This place is definitely a true neighbourhood gym.
I think things may have changed since some of these reviews were written. Our waitress was amusing and fun. The food was very tasty, but far too large portions. Price probably suited to the portion size, I don't like to waste anything, but even as a big eater generally, I couldn't finish my breakfast tortilla which was the size of a dinner plate!
I tried a few dishes and all of them were really tasty.
