My girlfriends and I decided to go for a drive to McLaren Vale the other week when Adelaide gave us a taste of Spring weather in Winter! We ended up here at Coriole for a coffee and light meals to share. It was a lovely afternoon out and the atmosphere was great. The staff were friendly and the coffee's and food were really good. I do think I will be back here for lunch to try as the items on the menu read deliciously.
First impressions is the immaculate garden surrounding the cellar and restaurant, amazing! We got there 20mins before the restaurant opened, read the menu, killed some time walking about, standing near the entrance and not once got a "hello" from one of the 5 staff members walking about. Tipsy wine tasters wondered in 10minutes later and got seated and welcomed with menus, if I wasn't hungry I would've left. Lucky, once seated and served our dishes, the dishes made up for the poor service because they were just perfectly cooked, presented and portioned, I wish I had the appetite to try more... Will come back at a later time nextime and with a reservation to avoid disappointment. #thankyouchefs
Apart from the beautiful views and fine wines, we felt like we were eating a meal at an old friend's place! Cosy and intimate, with fabulous food and friendly, impeccable service! My pasta dish was delightful and beautifully-presented. Even though we arrived late-ish in the afternoon, staff was happy to accomodate us with a wonderful meal and regaled us with tales of the vineyards and cellars!
Spectacular!! The views are amazing as are the buildings. Plenty of places to picnic or you could spoil yourself with one of their local produce platters - along with a bottle or two of their wines!!! Go to the cellar door and decide what you want to drink and then settle in with a plate. Their olives and cheese are local and delicious.
The best that the Southern Vales has to offer, the cellar door is located in an old style cottage which sits in the middle of the vineyard. If you like you wine you must stop off for the Coriole experience, this place was recommend to me ten years ago and I can’t go by without stopping in. They also sell some of the best olives and cheeses in Adelaide.
