Like a lot of similar coffee shops, this one gets pretty crowded on a Saturday, but then again that’s to be expected. However, it really didn’t stand out to be anything all that fantastic. As a coffee shop, it was okay, and did have some interesting items on the menu, but nothing that really grabbed my attention more even sticks in mind. The service was pretty good though, and reasonably prompt, considering the crowds, and the tea wasn’t all that bad either, considering the crowds, but still, it wasn’t anything all that mind-blowing.
I was here over the weekend catching up with some friends for brunch. I've been here a few times in the past, and old time favourite cafe. I quite like their menu options and always a busy place on a Saturday or Sunday for brunch/lunch. As we were there quite early the lunch menu wasn't available so opted for the all day breakfast, I had the potatoe and cauliflour hash with poached eggs with beetroot. Very nicely presented, a bit of a wait before all the meals came out. My dish was set back at $17, not bad slightly on the premium end I think but great atmosphere and catch up location in Yaraville.
A great place for brunch, although sometimes there may be a wait, but it's worth it. I had the eggplant kasundi which had a really strong Moroccan taste to it, which I didn't mind. The eggs were cooked perfectly, however the bacon could do with a little more crispiness. The service was friendly, although they were busy, they didn't rush us out to get more people in. I want to go back and try the lunch menu as there were items on it that looked really good. Recommended.
I have just spent a delightful 2 hours in the Cornershop court yard, Yarraville, sat amongst the passion flower vines. The menu is not huge but I can certainly recommend the breakfast or my special favourite is the fritters, yum yum!
The staff were very attentive, knowledgeable and extremely helpful and I have been 2 weeks in a row so not a one off!
For those of you who love quaint or eclectic then the metal teapots transported from the fifties will fill you with joy, along with the English garden chairs and tables. Simply divine!!
Agatha Christie would be right at home with tea and cake, very inspirational.
