I took my girlfriend to Lure for her birthday and I must say the service was second to none. The food was sensational and the waiter went beyond the call of duty to satisfy us. He brought our her desert and wrote "Happy Birthday" in chocolate. Lure is a fantastic restaurant and I would highly recomend it to anyone.
This restaurant has won awards, and its clear why. With a really upmarket retro feel and fantastic food, everyone must eat here at least once. There is fresh seafood (ie fresh crabs that you can pick from the ice bar which one you want to eat and they will cook to your liking), but for the non sea food eaters, there are great steaks etc also. The service is second to none, and they give you free bread to start with (sounds silly, but I love bread!!!). Quite expensive, but fantastic for a birthday etc. There is also a private function room for those that can afford it, and if you are lucky your waiter will take you on a private tour. PS. The bathrooms are pretty great too - you will see what I mean.
You hear the hype about Lure at the Coro and you can't miss the giant billboard on Milton Rd, so it was particularly pleasant that in general the fuss was lived up to. First things first - the service. It was simply outstanding, knowledgeable staff who understood the menu, the wine list and served plesently, attentively and very professionally without ever being intrusive upon our meal. The food was good too, although a little try hard at times. Maybe knocking out the odd flavour from each dish would have heped as the ingredients were fresh and of such a good quality that additional flavouring was perhaps uneccessary. Well worth booiking for a good meal out, 3 courses for 2 including a lovely sancerre was $170, which is pretty good value.
