I vividly recall the excitement a few years ago when a mate of mine (who seems to know everything about the craft beer scene in Australia) told me that a spinoff from Bitter Phew was due to open on Norton St. I scanned the vacant places over the next few weeks and my excitement grew when one of the terraces near Norton Plaza was under contruction. A few (long) months later they opened and the rest, as they say, is history.
Creek & Cella is a very welcome addition to Norton St. I love my craft beer and these guys certainly deliver. There's a well curated selection of beers on tap and a reasonable beer fridge.
Cheese and meat fans can also join in as there are well stocked cooling cupboards of both. Both have trended more towards Australian selections in ...read more

I was very excited to see this wine bar open with a wide selection of cheeses, charcuterie, wine & beer. Set in a warm & cosy little cottage, the inside is spacious & contemporary. There are cabinets of cheese & charcuterie and a nice long bar. The staff are efficient and helpful if you need some recommendations or have questions. I love the selection of items on offer some familiar some unusual. The housemade lavosh is also fantastic and the honeycomb locally sourced from the Blue Mountains is also amazing. Will have to come back for brunch one day as the menu sound amazing!

The rustic vibe that this Federation bungalow had in its Le Pain Quotidien days, has been replaced by a neutral recycled timber interior, more akin to the tastes of modern day Leichhardt. Along with a long bar, this plain fit-out directs your attention exactly where it should be: on two custom-made cold cabinets or cella frigorifera (as the nod to the area’s Italian heritage in the venue name infers). One is filled with cheese, and the other charcuterie; separated by a shiny meat slicer. Before investigating them thoroughly, I need a drink. What I wasn't expecting to find here were nine on-tap, locally produced craft beers, including my favourite pale ale: Shenanigans Winston American Pale Ale ($8.50/$10) which we enjoy with some Cuca Razor Clams ($23). Prepare your palate for the excesses of meat and cheese with well-presented South Coast Smoked Oysters ($16) - probably the most unique selection from the short menu of dishes. Pitted on crisp bread against ...read more
