The Crown and Anchor is a great place to go for a beer and to shoot some pool. It's not modern. it's not pretentious. it's just a pub. The staff are always great.

There was a time that if you were looking for me on a Saturday night you would find me sitting here at the front bar with my friend drinking beer and talking philosophical ramblings. I really don't know what I saw in this place back then because it was, and still is, a grunge bar, yet there I was, every Saturday, having beers with friends and playing eight ball. I did eventually grow out of this place, and upon returning years later I have discovered one thing this place has not changed one bit. Well, they have a new bar upstairs which is a part of the establishment, but not really, and okay, the craft beers are sneaking in, but I am sure if I were to come here on a Saturday night the only thing that would be missing is my friend. Oh, and I probably would be negligent if I didn't mention that they also have live bands here, and while the term 'dance floor' is probably not appropriate for this place, they do have a large (and grungy) room for those who love their hard rock.

Good old Cranka, cheap booze, always busy on a Friday or Saturday nights, even during the weeks sometimes. Pool tables and one of Adelaide's better stages for original live local and interstate bands (usually rock, metal, punk but some exceptions) nice cosy upstairs lounge area as well if you want to relax.
