Crown Hotel Motel
The Crown Hotel Motel is situated in the heart of Grafton on the banks of the mighty Clarence River, within walking distance of the CBD and shopping centre.The Motel is a separate building overlooking the river. There are 18 units with ample parking, easy river and boat ramp access and is in a quiet and peaceful location. The historic hotel building houses the Bars, Entertaining, lounge and dining areas which is directly oposite.The beer garden overlooks the gardens of Memorial Park and has sweeping river views. It has plenty of seating and there is always a cool breeze during the warmer months.The Crown Bistro overlooks the nature reserve of Susan Island and the beautiful Clarence River. Choose between dining on the terrace or indoors.The terrace is a great vantage point to observe the spectacular mass departure of the flying fox colony from the Susan Island Rainforest at dusk each evening during summer.
I would say that I liked this pub but I feel that that may be a bit of an understatement. In fact this is probably one of the best pubs in Grafton. Okay, it has a lot to do with the location, and being on the banks of the river with a balcony that overlooks it really does add to the appeal, at least for me. However, they also had some decent beers on tap, so that is one of the main reasons why I was pretty impressed. Oh, and the really nice and helpful staff as well – that certainly goes a long way.
Website says you have either choice of eating on outside deck on the river or in air conditioning comfort inside. Went here for my sons 3rd birthday for lunch, 35 degree hot day and I had to embarrassingly ask for them to please put the air con on because my 6 month old was sweating. Meals were average, wait staffs seemed rude.
