Crown Palace Chinese Restaurant

I have been to hundreds of Chinese restaurants and I agree that many of them have really little customer service but Crown Palace Vermont South, is top WORST restaurant that I ever encountered in my life. The restaurant was a little busy considering it was a Monday night and they seem like they were under staff which I understand why our order/food took a while. Their menu is over priced eg, Crab meat with rice noodles is $38.50 but in fact cost us $77 because apparently it weight 2 pounds. The mud crab did not look like 2pounds when it only just feed 4 of us when there was 6 people. Lucky it was our last dish. When came to the bill it states that we had 2 qty of mud crab but we only ordered 1. We told the wait staff that there has to be a mistake but he wasn't too sure, so staff spoke to management. Booked a table for 5, got to the restaurant on time & was greeted with rudeness. Sat at a table with a promise that someone would come and take our drinks order... 25 minutes later we were still waiting, our attempts to catch a passing waiter in vain. I went up to the counter to ask that we be served and the 2 people standing there walked away from me! Regardless to say our party walked out at that point and none of us will be returning!

My family and I have just moved into the area, and Crown Palace has very quickly become our favourite take-away! The food is fantastic! Fresh dumplings, the crispy skin chicken is fantastic, and the roast pork is mouth wateringly good! The yum cha is also a highlight, and an added bonus you don't get at many Chinese restaurants, a large freezer at the entrance displaying frozen, home made dumplings to take home (at around $7 a bag), with cooking instructions. I would reccomend Crown Palace for your local Chinese takeaway, or a Saturday or Sunday yum cha (but they serve yum cha daily!)

Have visited the Crown Palace on and off for around four years for Yum Cha - and it has always been excellent. There is always a good variety of dishes on the trolley, the quality is great and never a problem. Furthermore the staff are genuinely friendly. Looking forward to my next meal there.

Some of the best Chinese I've eaten in Australia. The food was very authentic and the seafood was very fresh. We felt the service was good and the restaurant manageress was very personable. Our food came quickly and was presented very well. At first glimpse of the menu the prices of the mains do seem a little above the average for a Chinese main dish in Melbourne but the quantity and quality of food I felt was exceptional and hence well priced. I have had take away recently from here previously to eating in and also found the service and the standard of the take away dishes to be excellent.
