Average hotel stay, but friendly staff.
Bathroom is pretty dated but bed was comfy and there was a generous sized work space.
I didn't try the restaurant but enjoyed a late drink at the bar.
I stayed for three nights for a conference at the Convention Centre which was walking distance away so convenient location and not far to walk into town if needed.
Casino right on site as well.
This is quite a pleasant hotel with spacious rooms, comfortable bed, good shower, good linen and a good central location. I have stayed several times. On this stay my room had a lovely parkside view. The restaurant serves a reasonable breakfast buffet and the dinner is fine. There ate lots of restaurants within walking distance also, though. The fitness centre is on-site with a range of equipment and opens at 6am. Breakfast starts at 6.30am but the morning newspapers don't arrive until nearer 7am. Overall it's okay but pricey for what it is - it's in central Canberra, so that's probably why.
Travel for work for the last 10 years - worst hotel i have ever stayed in. Ordered breakfast - they forgot to bring it twice with no apology. Lost laundry and what they did launder came back with unexplained stains. Offered a complimentalry newspaper never arrived. Ordered a steak and salad for dinner - forgot the salad.
The decor is tired, the carpet is retro casino style to cover the stains unfortunately it does not cover the smell. The bathroom was grotty.
They make "Faulty Towers" look professional.
The idea of a good seafood buffet brought me here, though it didn't provide what I wanted. The prawns had a watery taste as though they been thawed and lost some of their structure. and I could get the crab-pliers, so missed out on getting the best meat from the claws. I thought he salads were average, with not the best ingredients - the taste was not full, with an overpowering dressing all over them.
The atmosphere is lacking too, with an open sterile feel to the room.
This was probably the worst restaurant I have ever been to in Canberra. I could have cooked a better meal at home. The prices were over the top for the quality of the food and the service was almost non existent. They didn't bother offering us coffee or dessert and when we finally asked for the dessert menu they informed us that the chef had packed up and that the coffee machine had already been cleaned. That was only at 10pm. We had only just finished our meal because it took so long to receive it in the first place. The verdict: don't waste your time and money on this place.
