Cru Bar & Cellar
Located along James Street in Fortitude Valley, Cru Bar and Cellar is a name instantly suggestive of sophistication and good times. Simultaneously acting as a restaurant and bar, this beautiful establishment has an interior matched by hardly any other. Warm colours, plush cushions, wood furnishings and of course, the pièce de résistance, the crystal chandelier create the ambience.
Why not sit back and enjoy a well-cooked meal, or make an order from the extensive list of premium wines and cocktails? The cuisine is Modern Australian, so expect plenty of seafood and lamb focused mains. If you are an early riser, pop in for breakfast and order the delicious omelettes with avocados on the side. There are also share plates which are great for that romantic dinner for two.
Cru Bar and Cellar is the perfect place for all sorts of occasions, however due to its popularity, it is best to book ahead, so you do not miss out.
From a perch at the marble bar, check out the well-stocked wine cellar or catch a glimpse of trendy James St for some people-watching. Enjoy a slice of sophistication and tasty cocktails either from the bar or on couches and ottomans scattered throughout the indoor-outdoor space. Dressing up is recommended: most men are in suits although the atmosphere is quite chilled. Music is subtle – you can drink and chat and still feel like you’re ...read more

This place is nothing short of amazing, but then again I’m generally going to say that when it comes to a beer bar that happens to serve trappist beers from Belgium. In fact, any bar that serves Belgium beer that doesn’t happen to be Stella is seriously going to be one of those bars that I love. Actually, not only that, but they also have a bottle shop, and the bottle is nothing short of amazing. They have such a huge selection of beers that this place literally blew me away.
A great place to go for after work drinks and a great selection of wines. A little disappointed with our guests being told to leave as they have a 'no high vis' shirt policy. Turning away a director of a development company because of this left a sour note for us and i know the people i was with would not go back. It is a great location however.
Visited Cru Bar for a light lunch after a movie at Palace Centro last Sunday. As always, the staff were pleasant and welcoming.
We ordered the mushroom and goat's cheese pate to start, which was quite lovely. I'm not the biggest fan of goat's cheese but this was nice and light, not too overpowering and with the mushroom pate made a winning combination.
This was followed up with duck and orange salad and the wagyu beef. Both were beautifully presented and delicious. The wagyu was nice and rare in the middle and the duck was complemented with sweet orange segments and bitter rocket leaves.
Paired with a few glasses of Louis Roederer and a glass of Teusner to finish, it was an esquisite afternoon.
An awesome selection of ciders which was nice for a change. A great open atmosphere where you can sit down and watch the many people pass by. Their calamari is great. Only problem was that I was there on a quite night and they still managed to forget one of our drink orders.
