Cutler & Co Dining Room & Bar
Also known as: Cutler & Co The epitome of casual fine diningCutler & Co would have to be the summit of fine casual dining. Understated yet sleek and stylish, this relatively new venue is the latest venture of Andrew McConnell and Pascale Gomes-McNabb. The limited but visionary menu includes superbly executed dishes such as anchovy pastries for appetiser and mains like suckling pig with caramelised sherry vinegar or wood grilled quail but the dish certain to impress is the delectable chocolate ice cream sandwich with caramel sauce - unbelievably decadent!
Sitting near the summit of casual fine dining, Cutler & Co is understated chic, attracting air-kissing types from the glamour set along with some local Fitzroy characters to bring in just the right amount of designer grunge. Chef Andrew McConnell’s limited but visionary menu includes superbly executed dishes such as anchovy pastries for an interesting appetiser and indulgent mains like suckling pig with caramelised sherry vinegar. The best dish? The chocolate ice cream sandwich with caramel sauce. So decadent, dahling. ...read more

Went to Cutler & Co and thought the staff were quite rude, didn't really listen to what you had to say, just busy looking around incase someone else needed their attention. We ordered the rib eye for two at $160.00 which was way over the top. We got told by the wait staff that it was a beautiful piece of meat. We asked for it to be medium rare. When it came out it was more on the rare side than medium rare, we could not eat half of it as it was full of fat and very chewy. Certainly not work $160.00. My husband cooks better steaks on the BBQ at home which we purchase from our Butcher. I thought it was really over the top and cant believe they get away with charging that amount for something that was not nice. Stupid us for paying, will not go back their again.
I guess I'm a fussy eater and a traditionalist at heart. The food is good quality with top ingredients but there is not the variety to cater for all tastes (vegetarians can stay home) I couldn't find a main course I wanted so I ate lots of appetisers-which I liked. I find service a bit frosty. The main courses start at around $45 and upwards so get out that titanium credit card and get your wallet out of mothballs.
All show with no soul. Recently visited this restaurant. We found a lot of attitude from the staff bordering on rudeness with the exception of the maitre d' who was lovely. The food was ok in parts but more focused on unneccessary extra touches which were almost gimmick like. Not a genuine 1 michelin star standard as the presentation, although good, was not matched with flavours that impressed (which for this price range is a must). Would not consider going back. Only good enough for those who don't know better I suspect.
