Daiso

Daiso Maribyrnong is a great and fun homewares stores with really predictable prices i.e. everything is $2.80. I usually find what I'm looking for when I shop here. They have lots of great storage solutions and also handy home cleaning and storage ideas if you have a small apartment. I find the dish sponges to be really good. I also like the ceramics. Not everything is made in Japan but this place is a fun place to shop in.

Really cool store. Has all your house hold needs to office needs to beauty needs. Everything at a low cheap price of $2.80. There are other Daiso around Melbourne but good to see they have one in the western suburbs. The idea came from 1000Yen store in Japan. It's like McDonalds loose change menu. As its cheap you cant expect quality to be top of the range but you will be surprised that some items are actually made in japan. They have a few versions, made in china and made in japan.

Aw one of these newly Japanese entrants into the Australian market in the last recent years. Over the last 18 months, I have seen Daiso stores popping up across a number of major shopping centres and across the CBD. The concept is quite unique to what we have in our market. There is simply only one flat price which is $2.80 across each individual items, regardless of its size, colour, quantity that is purchased. They stock everything from your kitchen needs, stationary, household items, car cleaning products to even food items. The concept is quite cool, its very huge in Japan for those who has already been there, its almost like seeing McDonalds in every 200meters as its everywhere. Some of these stores are franchises and the other bulk is company owned. I think it may take some time for us Australian to get this concept but once embedded into our culture I think we will love it. Have a feeling these guys will be around for quite some time!

Not as big as their other Daiso stores but they still stock almost everything their other stores do. Not the widest aisles to shop in, and not the most simple store layout in terms of finding stuff however the staff know all their stock and where it's located. Being low priced items, the quality of the items isn't the greatest. If you're after basics and don't care too much about quality then definitely worth a visit here. You can find almost anything here if you look hard enough.
