The bakery is dingy and frankly raised questions of health standards in my mind. There was a very small selection and the staff were very unpleasant and rude. The strudel I bought was stone cold and wasn't properly cooked. When I politely pointed this out they laughed and said "thats how it's suppose to be and if you don't like it don't come back!!" Considering they run a bakery, their lack of knowledge regarding baking and customer service surprised me. I would not subject my mouth to Danny's bakery again, and it is definitely not worth visiting.
The sourdough bread is one of my favourites in Australia. It isn't the french style that you may think of, it's possibly a more northern europe variation. I try to time my visits for when things are just coming out of the oven and I love the smell of their warm bread.
Service can go up and down but it also offers a bit of theatre, listening to the rants of the staff behind the scenes.
For the bread alone - 5 stars, though all up - I'll give it a four.
