While overseas I sent my tax forms to Express Tax for them to complete my tax return. They did not keep me up to date and would not return my emails or calls unless I sent a third or forth request. Six weeks later I had to call and cancel the lodgement with the ATO as I was unsure if I would receive the refund.
I had the same kind of experience with this firm
- says from $95 fee, when I asked more in details, was told they actually charge 9%, when the money came back, found out was charged 15% of the refund!
- advertises 7days tax back, when I asked more in details, was told it actually takes 4-6 weeks, after all it took good 3months to come back, not satisfactory at all.
Hi Antoinette, when you cancelled the lodgement how long did it take to get direct from the tax office. I am having the exact same problems only now its 8 weeks and I've been told it could possibly be another 2-4 weeks and wouldn't have known unless I sent a ratty email yesterday. The service is a joke.
I've only just got my tax back after leaving oz in December 12, but lodged my return in November and express tax said that it will take 4-6 weeks as I'm Doing it before the end of the tax year, which was fine and they agreed a 9-10% fee of my total return! It has been 7 months and are now charging me just over $800 which is over 15%!!!!! Now they are just giving me excuses as to why and I'm now home in Scotland so cant do much about it :( do not use if your ate thinking about it, they are absolutely terrible I would have been quicker and easier doing it myself!!!!!

Very, very poor communication & service. Expect not to receive a call, reply to your email, or conformation of lodgement, I wouldn't recommend. I've re-lodged with a different service !
