I was fortunate to get flown to Daydream Island to shoot a wedding there over a long weekend. I'd been told that it was really expensive to buy food & drinks there. And I'd read online a few negative reviews on the place. I'm so glad to say they were wrong! Daydream Island was wonderful!! On arrival we were all greeted by friendly faces, music & given shell necklaces. The staff are lovely! The rooms are brightly furnished, comfortable & clean. There was a few different places to eat on the island, catering to different tastes & budgets. The lobby shop also sells basics you may need, plus reasonably priced souvenirs. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to stay on Daydream Island but we spent at least 3 hours wandering the resort having taken a helicopter ride from the Great Barrier Reef with a stop over at Daydream. It was the quiet season which suited us fine. The reception staff were very inviting and accomodating even though we weren't staying on the Island. They directed us to all the activities that were available and even told us that someone would be waiting for us to escort us back to our boat when we had to leave. The coral reef manmade lagoon is just amazing with sting rays, baby sharks and to my surprise 2 gorgeous baby whales (so cute). There were coral fish and actual coral - the barrier reef only 20 mins from the mainland. The pools were beautiful with their swim up bars but unfortunately the spas were a little cold for my liking. The cocktails were magnificent (after our trip I feel like a cocktail expert having tried so many differents ones lolll) and I highly ...read more
Daydream Island was the first big vacation the family has had and it was great. We had to get 2 rooms as the family rooms only creater for 4 not 5. We had the pool directly outside the room and all my children made new friends. It was getting renovation done but they are completed now. Great place.
