Once again I had a fantastic experience here today. They have since changed the menus and made it more pasta / modern italian focused, which I appreciated. The squid ink tagliatelle was delicious - very intense lemony and buttery flavours and the spanner crab was super tasty. The rigatoni for the veal ragu was howeever on the undercooked side. The olive oil they served with the bread was super flavoursome.
The wine tasting was an absolute delight. The cheese platter was great value $16, and it went perfectly well with the epic wine tasting. The gentleman that served me was very enthusiastic about the wines and made for an excellent experience. The other staff were knowledgeable, friendly very efficient, and they handled the large crowds with ease. A must visit.
De Bortolis winery restaurant is a lovely place to dine if you are in the Yarra Valley region. It is 1 hours drive out from Melbourne and set in a beautiful wine region landscape. The restaurant serves modern Italian/Australian food to go with its wine selection. We ordered the oysters, smoked kingfish and the suckling pig from its Sunday menu. The pig was a little bit on the dry / salty side and they were very receptive about the feed back and even took that item off our bill which were pleasantly surprised about. The waiters were attentive and the pinot noir was delectable. The bread and olive oil, which also came from the Yarra Valley region was to die for! We also visited the cellar door and cheese room (also to die for) and signed up to the De Bortoli wine club which provides free delivery and a great selection of wines all year round to your front door step.
