Takeaways
Deckhouse
I had an enjoyable lunch here last weekend. The place was full, and a large group of people were enjoying a large family birthday lunch, despite this, we were still able to hear ourselves talk. There was also a birthday party ( for a one year old!) in a cordoned off room, next door to the main dining room, again, we didn't hear any noise from this large group. The food was good and I did enjoy my beer battered fish and chips, call me unadventurous but it's just what I wanted. Washed it down with a rosé and the dessert also put a smile on my face.
On 23 April 2017 I was a guest at my friends' wedding at The Deckhouse. I was also making a video for them as a wedding gift. The staff assumed that I was a service provider of some sort. I ended up looking for a cafe on my way home that night. The things that the staff said to me are inappropriate for a Truelocal review. If standard levels of decency are part of your criteria, I do NOT recommend The Deckhouse to anyone.
This is a very lovely building, and it's nice that there are lots of maritime businesses in the same precinct, you are reminded that Sydney Harbour is a working harbour. They use this venue for functions such as high school
formals etc. It is a beautiful space, even the toilets are nice .In the dining area there are glorious views across the water to nearby suburbs such as Greenwich. The food is lovely, no BYO option, but some nice choices on the menu. Fish of the day for my visit was barramundi, can't go wrong..delicious.
Good service too.
