Degani Cafe
Closed until Saturday
8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Degani is everywhere. This Toorak one is quite popular. Not my first choice for a place to have a coffee but given everything else in Toorak is expensive, even just for a coffee and a cake, then Degani was my choice at the time. Service was good but the hot chocolate wasn't so good. Tasted very milky, not enough chocolate flavour. A standard cannoli cost $4.50 which i found expensive. I haven't been to any other Degani before besides this Toorak one and one in Roxburough Park but i didn't pay attention if Roxburough Park had cannoli. So a friend and I shared 1 cannoli. It was quite dark, not much natural light inside but i guess that was my own personal feel about it. It was busy and the people that actually dine in seemed like older generation enjoying a lunch and coffee break. Great location, average service but not so great hot chocolate and very pricey.
We were in Toorak over the weekend and wanted to find a place to have some coffee and perhaps a quick bite to eat. This cafe was inside the plaza where safeway supermarket was. I had walked passed here a few times before but just didnt have the opportunity to stop by. There was quite a number of us and 2 small toddlers, the waiter was quick to act to join the few smaller tables together and brought over 1 small high chair. Shortly after placing the order, he did approach us to say they were closing the shops but no pressure for us to speed up. The hot drinks came out shortly, coffee and hot chocolates were fine, the babychino was a little on the watery side and questionable about the price $2 for a very extra small serving of milk?? The steak burger and chips were nice, a little bit of a wait there but well worth it. Overall a great place to stop by and have a coffee/cake if in the area.
