Dendy Cinemas

I attend this cinema regularly, particularly during their Sydney Film Festival screenings, but was a bit put off recently when I was told I couldn't order a drink I wanted (Scotch and dry) because I wasn't part of some elite club. I don't think that's very Newtown. The seats are good, and clean, the toilets usually so too. The front bar (that you are allowed to order from) has a reasonable but not great booze selection. Cinemas upstairs are very small - kind of like big lounge rooms.

What has happened in Newtown? Over the last few weeks someting has changed! And not for the better! Staff are rude and stressed, prices seem "flexible" (to the detriment of the customer), attempts at "upselling" rival fast food outlets and lots of familiar faces seem to have gone :( Come on Dendy. This is not acceptable. Pull up your socks before your customers vote with their feet!

I like how they show independent/underground films here, we do need more of this than Hollywood movies. Very spacious and very clean, and it's always a good crowd too.

Good, popular, comfy cinema, easy to access in Newtown and surrounded by great places to go for a meal/drink after the film. They have a few discount day specials (eg Sunday nights) and some of the local businesses do discount movie ticket + meal deals, have a look around.

Love this cinema. Compact and not overcrowded. Plus you can even bring in a cheeky beverage to relax with whilst you are watching your movie.... Need I say more?
