Department Of Housing Queensland - Mackay/Whitsunday Area Office

When your dealing with people who are in need, your job is to help them out. To listen and to recommend the best option possible for them. Unfortunately the Mackay office are one of the worst customer service i have encountered. No sense of empathy and pass you on to the next person who isnt much help either. I was spoken rudely and talked down without even bothering to ask questions to determine my needs. I pay full rent and i work full time and im assuming alot of people who are in housing are low income earners. Just because majority of these people are renting or looking for cheap rent through the government doesnt give your the right to treat them rudely as if they are a waste of your time!

I was looked down upon, and they tried to get me to engage in their rental assistance program. They were amazed I found my own place with no support from them. I am more qualified than any of the staff there. It's not my fault circumstances led me to apply for public housing. Their staff need a reality check and a lesson in customer service.
