I have been to Detail Women 10 days ago and I wished I had red Gayla's review before going as the same problem happened to me.
I also asked for highlights insiting on the fact that I wanted my maine colour to stay brown.
I also said that I previously did some higlights 2 months before with an other hairdresser but this was only located on lower levels of my hair; the hairdresser did not even look at what I had in my hair. I wanted the same thing on the top half part of my head but that's not what was delivered.
The boy did ALL my hair with really thin yellow strands alternating with thin dark strands of hair.
The hairdresser also really hurt me during the "blayage" and during the shampoo and drying.
I was so fed up and tired that I left without complaining too much but I should never have paid the $390 they asked for this poor colour job.
The only positive thing is the hair cut which was well done.
Hi Josephine, I will get the salon coordinator to call and offer to fix this issue. I have asked the creative director to investigate and see why the hairdresser chose to do the colour the he did. I personally had a bad experience at Detail Woman. Went there to get new hair style/cut and balayage with a few highlights. Was really excited because I saw all the positive reviews. And got told one of the "best guys for balayage" will do my hair.
Now my hair shorter than I wanted and I got head full with highlights, no balayage. Also I disliked the cold atmosphere in store, my hair dresser was really rough to my hair and pulling it all the time. My head massage was max. 30 seconds long. I enjoyed my hair treatment, but that this was more or less the only positive, sadly. I got my hair curled in store by the time I arrived at home completely gone.

I believe we are fixing this issue you now with my receptionist. The hair stylist that performed the haircut has been informed and we ensure this doesn happen again. We take feedback seriously. I first visited Detail Woman when they first opened which was 3 years ago. I first visited because I got a complementary hair cut. I had my hair cut by Stephen Foyle which I can say is one of the best hair cuts I ever had. Firstly, he asked what I wanted and following my instructions he have cut my hair according to my face shape. I loved my new hair and I got a lot of good complements about it. Plus the staff made me feel welcomed and really appreciated (although I wasn't paying for it). Since then I have made Detail Woman my favorite salon and day spa of Sydney as I have very high standards of customer service and I know Sydney businesses sometimes don't offer premium customer service I can say that Detail Woman do the best. Try they massage and facial with Grace ( without a doubt she is the best).
Worst experience ever!! Do not go there. They were incredibly rude when I turned up and seemed completely disinterested in providing good service.
To make things worse, the hair cut turned out horrible with jagged edges throughout. I asked for soft layers but instead I got a mess. I now have to go elsewhere to fix it up.
Hi Qing Liu. I have investigated the complaint with the receptionist and the hairdresser. The incident occurred as a result from a booking made via a discounted gift certificate. We do this to promote to new clients with a discounted offer. I have looked through the system and you had a complimentary Facebook haircut back on the 29/1/14 with Stephenie. The receptionist informed you that you couldn't get another haircut from the certificate as it clearly states it is for new clients. She did say you could have all the other services on the certificate. I believe the haircut you are complaining about was from 29/1/14. We are happy to fix a problem that we have caused. However, normally a client would give feedback within less than 15 months after the haircut. Also if you were not happy with the haircut why would you buy a discounted certificate for our hair salon.
